Creating Your Own Sushi

Regardless of your nationality, there is something utterly tempting about the sushi and sashimi that you often see being served in traditional Japanese restaurants. This sense of curiosity is primarily brought about by the fact that the said dishes are prepared raw and with minimal flavoring.

If you can no longer bear the hunger pangs that you feel whenever you see a sushi roll, maybe its high time that you try doing one for yourself. The first thing that you have to do is make sure that you have all the needed materials and ingredients such as a bamboo rolling mat also known as Makisu, medium grain rice, rice vinegar, sugar, Nori seaweeds, wasabi, gari, fish or vegetables or any seafood that you would like to put on your sushi, and soy sauce.

The easiest type of sushi roll to prepare is the California Roll. This type of sushi makes use of avocado, crab meat and cucumber. The first step in preparing this is to spread a cup of rice on a sheet of nori leaving about an inch on one side. The thickness should be about inch. Make sure that you do not pack the rice. Put on the avocado slices first followed by the cab meat and then the cucumber. They should be placed on the side opposite of the uncovered nori. Once you have done this, roll the mat slowly making sure that you pack the rice. Remove the mat and then cut the roll using a moist knife. Your sushi is now ready to be served.

If you want to prepare a sushi similar to that sushi in Weston restaurants, you have to keep in mind a few things, one of which is that you should not use instant rice, brown rice or converted rice. The quality of this rice would make it hard for you to make the perfect sushi role.

Make sure also that you use a one to one ration between the rice and the water if you would like to have a sushi Weston restaurants have. Keep in mind that when you are preparing your own sushi rice, you would still have to add vinegar.

Lastly, if you would be using fish when preparing sushi Weston restaurants commonly have, make sure that they are fresh. Fresh fish are commonly bright in color. Go also for loins of thick fillets as they can be sliced easier.
